Lucky Track Inspector
Found via http://succeedblog.org/, which I find an affable retort to the ‘fail’ epidemic. Good example of a good story, with low production value. Also, probably isn’t real.

Peter Fischli and David Weiss: Der Lauf Der Dinge (1987) The Way Things Go
Saw this video in a museum several years ago, and had thought it was awesome then. Didn’t know it existed online until I stumbled upon (in the non-web 2.0 way) it today. Hooray!
Worth watching all the way through, but the moment I find most impressive is at 14:20.
Owl City: Fireflies
Heard this song on the radio, and thought it was just some pop artist. Today, found out he’s just some kid that recorded songs in his mom’s basement, which makes me like it ten times more. Everyone loves a good story. Yeah, I’m about two months too late on this one. I really like how the aesthetic matches the song in this music video. Shot really well using modern technology, and the subject is old technology. Hooray for nostalgia! Yeah, everyone loves a good story.
Matthew Harding: Where the Hell is Matt?
Had to throw in Where the Hell is Matt for good measure. This is the original. Here’s him explaining how he did it. And here’s the 2006 version. This video was sponsored by Stride gum, but in a completely passive, and admirable way. No product pushing in the video itself, and a purely fun idea.
Mr. Show: Menocu’s House of the Future
Another experiment in awkwardness. Try to ignore the laugh track. Lots of good ideas for continuity mistakes and bad editing.
Bill Withers: Use Me
Oh man, they don’t make ‘em like they used to! Of all the famous musicians, I think he’s led one of the most earnest lives. Hankering to see the documentary Still Bill.
Iman Crosson: Obama Does Thriller
For such high production value, I wish it had been done better. Could be much shorter, and the lyrics could be ten times better.
Auto-Tune The Ads: Sony. Justin Timberlake. Peyton.
They must have been paid by Sony to make this one. That’s the only explanation I can find for it being so bizarre and not-that-funny. So this is basically a Sony commercial, only slightly cooler. Good for them for getting some paid work. Still looks like the best job in the world. Still a fan.
The Rock-afire Explosion: London Bridge (Fergy)
I can’t imagine the creepy factor of what this must be like live. Totally amazing! There’s a future for this somewhere. I’m sure this takes hours of Aaron Fechter and Chris Thrash’s time.
Maya Design: Trillions
Yep. We should be thinking this far ahead. No more bad OS’s. No more non-modular-for-the-sake-of-business. Computing as and ecology can only work if we standardize and open-source. Oh, and the most important point? Nature has already solved this problem.
phattums: Delicious Stick
I don’t know what it is about this video that’s so mesmerizing.
Nico Nico Douga: Geddan
Tilting the cartridge ‘just so’ leads to unpredictable sprite scrambling.
Lush Lufe: Lindsey tastes The Dalmore
I wish all sales treatments were like this. I know there’s a bit of marketing going on here, but I hope there’s earnestness in this video.
